Winning Heirloom Seeds 2011

2011_Bakercreek

I received my beautiful 2011 Baker Creek Heirloom Seed book back a few months ago.  I thank Baker Creek for producing an outstanding seed catalog.  It is full of brilliant photos, descriptions, tips, resources, and events. I love the story behind this company and hope to visit one of their events sometime in the future.

You will find Baker Creek on the web at:  http://rareseeds.com/

I ordered seeds and the package arrived on January 25, 2011.  Planting took place on March 13, 2011.  I planted three flats of seeds.  Beginning with cow pots, starting mix, water, and sunshine.   Two weeks later seedlings have sprouted and my gardening season has officially begun.

The winning seeds for this year are: Purple of Romagna Artichoke

heirloom seeds with my friends and family.  It is a great feeling to pass along something that brings new life into this world.  It gives me joy to watch my friends and family grow through gardening and provide food for their family.
