Looking for a job in this day and age.....
As some of you may or may not know I have been looking for a job for the last few months. It isnt like when I was younger you could go into the store ask for a application, fill it out and ask to speak to a manager. Now you go online and post your resume or send it to a company and if they think you are a good candidate they call you. No way to follow up either. I have found this process very hard for me. I am a people person. You know the kind of person that goes into a place and just makes you feel like you have known them forever. That is really hard in a cover letter let alone a resume upload.
So for months I have waited. Everyday, several times a day checking emails, checking craigslist, career builders, you name it I have been there (and the occasional job listing Carol found as well. thanks my friend!) It has been a very emotional few months. Hard to live on 18 hours a week with taxes taken out of the check.
Anyway, I am finally getting calls and emails back. Lots of insurance company's which I think is funny in itself. I have been on a few interviews. I like interviews. You get to go in and sell yourself. Mom always told me I could sell sell water to a whale. Took me a long time to figure that one out. lol
The last interviewer I met with made a very interesting observation. When she asked me why I was looking for another job I told her about my lack of hours and also about my non ability to grow at the company I am with now. She said do you want to know why....I looked puzzled at her and said sure tell me why you think that is. Her reply was "I bet he is intimidated by you." Wow, As I thought about that later I am pretty sure she is right. I am a very confident independent woman and guess what I don't need a man for anything (except for my dad of course ;0))
I am not good with change, but so need to find a job to challenge me and to help me be a better me.
Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes to by the way. Keep them coming I am not out of the wood work yet.
